$2.5 Million Prize Bonus from Billfish Tournament

February 15, 2023 – PANAMA CITY BEACH, FLORIDA

The return of the Billfish Tournament to Bay Point is bringing with it the chance for a huge payday for anglers who participate in the event!

The Bay Point Billfish Open is announcing a $2.5 million dollar bonus as part of the 2023 Tournament set for late June 2023.

The first 80 teams registered and paid in full will automatically be included in this bonus opportunity, with no extra charge for inclusion.

The current Florida record is 1,046 pounds, with that record set by Jacksonville-based angler Conrad Hawkins during the Bay Point Invitational back in July of 2001. Hawkins was fishing aboard a boat named “Lucky II, a 51-foot Bertram, captained by Destin-based, Tommy Browning. At that time, Hawkins’ catch was not only the state record for blue marlin but also the Gulf of Mexico record. That record was broken a year later at a tournament in Mississippi.

However, that 1,046 pounder remains the Florida record, and the $2.5 million bonus will be awarded to the team which lands the winning blue marlin of the tournament which ends up certified as a state record.

The Bay Point Billfish Open at Point South Marina-Bay Point will run five days in late June, with live music, food and drink, an in-the-water boat show, and marina parties Wednesday and Thursday.

The weigh-ins will take place Friday and Saturday, the week of June 28th through July 1st.
